Born in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil, Jônia Queen is an internationally recognized Brazilian dance artist, choreographer, instructor, and cultural ambassador who has taught Samba and other Brazilian dance styles for more than 10 years.
She is the founder of Raiz Brazil Dance Company in Los Angeles, where she directs, choreographs, and performs while sharing the beauty, energy, and traditions of Brazilian culture with audiences around the world.
Through Raiz Brazil Dance Company, Jônia Queen has created unforgettable performances that celebrate Brazilian music, dance, and cultural heritage.

Throughout her career, Jônia Queen has collaborated with renowned artists and performed on prestigious stages, including performing with Sergio Mendes at the Hollywood Bowl and with the Ozomatli Band during the Playboy Jazz Festival.
She has also toured with the Brasil Brazil Band, performing throughout Georgia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and California.
With Raiz Brazil Dance Company, Jônia Queen has led four international tours, bringing Brazilian dance and culture to audiences in Mexico, China, Thailand, and Russia.

Jônia Queen’s dedication to Brazilian dance, performance, and cultural celebration has earned her numerous prestigious titles and recognitions.
She is the current Hollywood Carnival Queen South America 2026.
In 2015, she was elected Hollywood Carnival Queen 2015 and later received the additional title of Hollywood Carnival Queen 1st, representing the Hollywood Carnival brand at numerous events.
In 2016, Jônia Queen was crowned Samba Queen USA 2016/17 after winning the National Samba Competition.
In 2018, she won the online competition to become the Cory Thomas Designs Ambassador 2018/19, representing one of the best Samba costume designers in the United States.
Her additional achievements include being named Sambalá Samba School Queen of the Drums from 2008–2011, San Diego Brazil Carnival Queen 2014, and Santa Barbara Brazilian Carnival Queen 2014.
Through her artistry, leadership, and passion for Brazilian culture, Jônia Queen continues to inspire audiences and celebrate the universal language of dance.
